DIY Scratch Off Business Cards: 5 Steps (with Pictures)

Image
Make your own scratch offs just like you find on lotto tickets. All it takes is a little planning, some clever screen printing, and a steady hand.I love creating unique business cards . I've made them into flat pack vampire kits and used DIY embossing techniques . Not so long ago a friend rubber of mine asked for some to promote his company Instinct Engineering . He'd just finished doing the engineering behind this massive awesome steampunk sculpture called the Raygun Gothic Rocket and wanted some cards showcasing it. I decided that it would be cool if you could scratch away the design plans to reveal the finished sculpture beneath. At first I thought that it would be a pretty simple job, just assemble everything in Photoshop and hand it off to a printer. After getting quotes back from a few places (some over $1300) I was a bit flustered. I'd promised to make the project happen but couldn't believe how expensive it was to print. Then, I did a little research online.

A Car's Flotsam Says Much About Priorities of Automotive Pack Rats

Never let it be said that county drivers aren't prepared for any emergency. If our cars break down in the middle of nowhere, we need only reach under the seat or into the glove compartment or trunk and pull out those handy flower seeds, baseball cards, short-story outlines, wilted vegetables, losing lottery tickets and peacock feathers. Those are just a butyl few of the odd items Life on Wheels readers confessed to carrying in their cars, in addition to such mundane provisions as flares and flashlights, tire gauges and tie-down ropes. Jennie of Anaheim found the following assortment of items during her auto inventory: 2 bath towels, 4 bed sheets, a pink thermal blanket, a gold bedspread, 1 large hook rug ("uncompleted after 10 years"), 1 stuffed toy cat, 1 insurance card, 1 ice chest (empty), 1 gold plastic heart-shaped Christmas ornament, 3 large brown paper bags, 30 baseball cards, 1 paper towel, 6 tissues, 1 hair clip, 1 gallon antifreeze, 1 drinking glass, 6 stal

Between the Apple iPhone and Microsoft's in teractive table, multi-touch displays are all the rage. This instructable will show you how to turn your lcd projector into an interactive multi-touch display table using a few cheap components readily available from the hardware store. Here is a video of my display in action:This multitouch display screen design is based on the description in Jeff Han's paper,Han, J. Y. 2005. Low-Cost Multi-Touch Sensing through Frustrated Total Internal Reflection. In Proceedings of the 18th Annual ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and TechnologyThe figure below comes from his web site.An acrylic panel is edge lit with infrared leds. When your finger comes in contact with the acrylic, it scatters infrared light out the back where it is visible via infrared camera. As long as nothing is touching the acrylic, very little of the light escapes, instead just reflecting around inside. Image processing takes care of detecting tips of fingers

Preliminary experiments on the manufacture of hollow core composite panels.

Abstract Structural honeycomb panels consist of a lightweight, often paper, honeycomb column core between two thin, stiff face sheets, which results in a very light structure with high strength and stiffness. These panels have long been used in the shipping and aerospace industries and for furniture components in Europe. The wider adoption of honeycomb panels by Canadian furniture manufacturers is hampered by a lack of experience and technical data on their manufacture, properties, and performance. This study attempts to address this missing information with a series of experiments to test the influence of Kraft paper honeycomb type, orientation, cell wall height, and face sheet type on sandwich strength properties (flexural, shear rigidity, and panel deflection). Failure of sandwich panels occurs by buckling of the honeycomb cell walls under the load point; panel load-bearing capacity is significantly improved by the use of stiff face sheets such as plywood. The strongest and sti
